Eight Brazilian nationals were today remanded to prison for armed robbery and possession of ammunition.
The eight, six men and two women appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer to the charges. Three of the accused were jointly charged with robbery under arms, four with possession of a .38 revolver and a 9mm magazine and forty-two live rounds, while the seventh was charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking. The court was told that three of the accused while in Lethem and armed with guns robbed Maxine Buckley of a quantity of watches, cell phones, jewellery and cash totaling $3.8million dollars. The eighth person will return to court on February 6th at the Lethem magistrates’ Court.
