Several police ranks stationed at Sisters Police Station, East Bank Berbice escaped unharmed Wednesday night (January 10), when the vehicle they were in exploded and eventually burst into flames.
It was minutes after ranks disembarked the vehicle in the police compound which also houses the Magistrates’ court when they observed sparks coming from PMM 9646.
Ranks and residents formed a bucket brigade to stop the fire but the vehicle was already completely destroyed.
An investigation is underway into the circumstances that caused the explosion.
