There were mixed reactions to the Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan’s $500 dollar increase in the old age pension. Some pensioners from Corentyne Berbice welcomed the increase and said it was thoughtful of the government, while others were looking forward to a little more.
In the two years since the APNU/ AFC government has taken office old age pension has moved from $13,125 to $19,500. The increase will be effective from January 1st, 2018
