The mother, Jennifer Dos Santos, said the incident which occurred on November 15th has left her son, Leonard Huggings nursing multiple stab wounds to his abdomen in the New Amsterdam Hospital.
The incident according to De Santos stemmed from an exchange of words at a gas station in Number 50, Corentyne between her son and a 14-year-old female. The girl stabbed Huggings after he slapped her for making derogatory statements about his mother.
The grieving mother disclosed, that it is likely that her son could be left paralyzed.
The suspect who was charged in the incident was released on $50,000 dollars bail, according to the woman.
Huggins of number 53 village Corentyne, Berbice, is a student of the Skeldon Technical Institute.
DeSantos said watching her son lay helpless in the hospital is Deja Vu, as she just lost her older son last year. Her son Eric Angel was employed with a gold miner in the interior as an armed security. He was reportedly murdered while on duty in May last year. The woman recalled her son contacting her via telephone on mother’s day telling her he will be out the next day, then she was suddenly greeted with the news of his death.
She is yet to receive justice for his death and now she is hoping that a thorough investigation would be done and she will get justice for Leonard.
