The Police’s Major Crimes Unit from Georgetown were in Springlands, Corentyne Berbice over the weekend making several arrests as they continue to work feverishly to stay on top of Faiyaz Narinedatt’s murder case.

The deceased father of two who resided at Number 70 Village, Berbice was brutally murdered by a group of men known to him. The alleged mastermind is said to be wealthy businessman Marcus Brian Bisram.

A key witness who is a popular businessman in the area was also arrested, questioned and later released over the weekend. Police sources say he was arrested on an allegation of trying to tamper with the witnesses.

Then on Sunday, the Major crimes unit arrested and released well known Berbice attorney and former magistrate Chandra Sohan. The Preliminary Inquiry is ongoing in the local court.

In wake of this new development, family members of the murdered carpenter said they are elated that the mastermind Marcus Brian Bisram will be extradited to Guyana to face trial.

Narinedatt’s mother said she was happy that the case was not swept under the carpet, because of  Bisram’s social status and the wealth he has at his disposal to try to undermine the judicial process.
