The police are probing the murder of an Industry East coast Demerara man which occurred just after 10 this morning. Dead is Alan Bagwandeen. There are reports that the dead man had an altercation with his neighbor who allegedly hit him to the head with a piece of wood. Neighbors said the two men were drinking buddies and would usually consume alcohol heavily and regularly. The suspect’s sister told reporters that she heard a commotion and it was afterwards that she learnt of her neighbor’s death.
The suspect was arrested by the police and the man appeared to be under the influence of alcohol as he was being arrested. He later told members of the media that he was unaware of what he was being arrested for.
Residents say Alan was living in Guyana for sometime, but his wife and children live in Canada. The police were on the scene taking bits and pieces of evidence as the investigation continues.
