Grief filled the air at the Georgetown Public Hospital as teachers and relatives of 6-year-old, Glenshon Skeete were greeted with the news of his death.
The lad just moments before his demise was with a group of children at the Plaisance Community center ground practicing for tomorrow’s school sports when a football goal post fell on him.
His mother who is expecting her 9th child was inconsolable as she struggled to come to terms with her son’s death.
Education officials were on hand to lend support to the family, as they too were touched by the tragic event.
At his Parents home at Graham Street Plaisance, his emotional father, Glenroy Skeete said it was just after 11:00 am when he got the news to head down to the hospital, not knowing that his son was already dead.
He shared a moment he had with his son this morning that will live with him for the rest of his life.
At the Community Centre Ground, education officials were on sight doing their own investigation. The goal post was never properly placed in the ground and the persons around the area said it was a tragedy waiting to happen.
The caretaker at the facility said he asked the teacher to keep the children away from that area. He said he was inside when he heard the commotion outside.
Residents and family members converged at the Plaisance home to offer condolences to the grieving family.
