“Tear drop” slapped with robbery under arms charge

Aspiring music performer, Leon Clarke called “Tear Drop” was on Wednesday (September 13) slapped with a robbery under arms charge.

It is alleged that the West La Penitence, Georgetown man on September 8 at Independence Boulevard, East La Penitence, he broke into a shop and relieved the owner Vincent Howard of cash, phone cards, and scratch card valued over $1M.

When the charge was read by Magistrate Fabayo Azore Clarke, Clarke, 23, broke down in tears and pleaded not guilty, stating that he is not a thief but an entertainer and writer. He added that his image will now be tarnished.

His Attorney Keoma Griffith, in his application for bail, stated that when his client heard of the allegation he presented himself to police.

Bail was granted in the sum of $75,000 to the accused. He was told to return to court on October 4.
