The Guyana Police Force has made some changes to facilitate the substantive Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum proceeding on accumulated and as of Monday F Division Commander, Senior Superintendent Rabindranauth Budhram took over the managing of Criminal Investigation Department.

Blanhum who was instrumental in solving many high profile cases is proceeding on leave at a time when the Guyana Police Force is reporting an 11% reduction in serious crime. He was one of the high ranking police officers who recently testified before the Commission of Inquiry into the alleged assassination plot against President David Granger.

The finding of that report revealed that they were some deficiencies within the Police Force. The President received the findings of the Paul Slowe led commission but noted that the report has not gone to Cabinet as yet for deliberation.

According to the president, the retired assistant commissioner of Police has made some strong recommendations. It was revealed at the commission that there appears to be a rift within the top brass of the Guyana Police Force.
