Escapees were staying a stone’s throw from the Police Station

Prison escapees Urie Varswyck and Royden Williams were hiding out a stone’s throw from the Amelia’s Ward Police Outpost in this shack allegedly owned by, Linden Orin Gordon known as ‘Priest,’ who is currently in custody assisting with investigations.

Earlier ex-policeman Teon Allen was arrested and charged with harbouring the fugitives. Residents said Gordon along with the escapees were sharing the shack.

Ex- Policeman Urie Varswyck, who was on remand for murder was shot and killed by joint service ranks, but Williams managed to escape. Residents said they were forced to lay low as the area sounded like a war zone.

One resident said on one occasion she saw a strange looking man at the house but when she made eye contact, he hid.

This morning the Joint Service ranks were back in Amelia’s Ward searching an abandoned house for the other escapee, Royden Williams. That search came up empty handed.

However, the police are maintaining a heavy presence on the Linden Soesdyke Highway while the joint service was busy in and around the mining town looking for Williams who is said to be the mastermind behind the recent Camp Street jail Break and fire. Williams or Royden Durant called Smallie, was convicted for the 2008 Barticia Massacre where 12 persons were killed.
