Air Services Limited pilot, Imran Khan’s body was this morning flown to the Eugene Correia Airport, two days after the Cessna aircraft he was flying went down with him in the mountains between Chi-Chi and Mahdia in Region 8.
Khan was alone in the plane when it went down. His body was found by members of the Guyana Defence Force Special Forces, who were deployed to the crash site as part of the search and rescue team. Captain Khan was described as a seasoned and experienced pilot, but what happened on the day in question is now the subject of a probe by the Civil Aviation Authority.
It was just around 7:30 this morning that the plane carrying Khan’s body landed at the airport, workers were seen gathering to pay their last respects to the man many of them had worked with for a number of years.
The hearse from the Memorial Gardens funeral home arrived and went straight down to the other side of the building in an area away from the camera and collected Khan’s remains and then slowly drove away.
Khan was the 2nd pilot to be killed in a crash in less than a month.
