A patrol for sharing information and a Memorandum of understanding will soon be developed and signed between the Guyana Police Force and the City Constabulary to address crime fighting in the city.
Today, senior officials from the Police and the City Constabulary met at City Hall to move the process forward. That meeting was attended by Mayor Patrica Chase Greene, the City’s Chief Constable Andrew Foo, Assistant Commissioner of Police and head of Operations, Clifton Hicken and Commander of ‘A’ Division, Marlon Chapman and other senior officers of both organizations.
Hicken said it is necessary for the two organizations to work together in the area of crime fighting. He noted that not working together has put a void in the system and the information garnered from arrests made by the City Constabulary are not shared with the police. Hicken said the collaboration will help the two agencies to grow from strength to strength.
Now this development was prompted following the shooting death of Prison escapee, Clive Forde in the East Ruimveldt market. Commander of A Division, Marlon Chapman said this initiative will help to beef up security and have a coordinated approach to security. The two organizations will also be working in the area of traffic.
