Guyanese businessman and murder accused Marcus Brian Bisram was on Wednesday (July 05) remanded to a New York state prison when he appeared in the Brooklyn District court.
Bisram, 27, was arrested by members of the NYPD/U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force in Queens on Tuesday about eight months after the alleged murder of Berbice carpenter, Faiyaz Narinedatt.
His next court appearance is set for July 13, which will see the commencement of his extradition hearing.
Narinedatt of No. 70 Village a father of two was beaten unconscious by the men, then placed in the trunk of a car and taken to the public road where he was run over by a car to stage the crime as a road accident and not a homicide.
Narinedatt met his demise after rejecting the alleged mastermind’s sexual advances. The businessman attempted to fondle Narinedatt who was intoxicated but rejected him.
The seemingly embarrassed and angry businessman allegedly instructed two villagers to “beat him and kill him and he is going to ensure that everything is okay.”
It was Narinedatt’s family’s insistence that caused the hierarchy of the force to remove police ranks from Upper Corentyne from the case. City investigators took over and acted swiftly and are in the process of solving the crime.
Relatives are convinced that Narinedatt’s murder was staged by the wealthy businessman and that some ranks in Berbice were hampering the investigations because of their ties to him. Crime Chief Blanhum said that that is also being investigated.
Reports stated that several eyewitnesses came forward to the family relating their account of what really took place that night.
The husband and father of two died of multiple injuries, including a fractured skull and a broken spine, the post mortem examinations revealed.
The businessman is back in the United Sates of America and could be returned to Guyana to face justice.
Investigations are ongoing.
