East Ruimveldt man gets 25 years in prison for 2014 killing of dredge owner

The sentence was handed down by Justice Navindra Singh after the 12 member Jury found him guilty on May 19th. Mc Dougall was before the court on trial for the murder of  Pike Street businessman, Ashok Raghoo.
The businessman was shot dead on Vlissengen Road in the vicinity of the Botanical Gardens following a robbery, which was carried out by two men on a motorcycle.
The businessman’s wife was also shot during the ordeal when the bandits snatched a bag containing some $4M and made good their escape.
The Police were able to identify the men from surveillance video from around the area. Mc Dougall was identified as the rider of the getaway motorcycle, while Jermaine Otto was identified as the shooter.
Both were charged with murder, however, Otto perished in the deadly Camp Street Prison Fire which took place on the 3rd of March 2016.
