It was brought to our attention that our cameraman Rudolph Morris was detained today at the Kaieteur National Park by ranks of the joint operation underway in the protected area while he was executing his duties.
Capitol News understands that Morris and two other men by way of a boat when up the Potaro River to get video footage of the operations that are taking place. However, Morris and a villager from Chenapau were detained upon their return to a boat landing in the area.
Capitol News has been informed that its cameraman will return to the city tomorrow and we are monitoring the situation to ensure that he was operating within the confines of the law and the standing operating procedures of a cameraman attached to a reputable news agency.
