GPSU presidential candidate Gregory Gaspar and his team were left in the dark, while the announcement was made in the presence of long-serving President of the Guyana Public Service Union, Patrick Yarde. Yarde was declared the winner of the elections.
Gaspar said even a common courtesy by the returning officer was not extended to him. He is crying foul and said the elections were rigged and stated that his team will take the necessary course of action to correct this injustice.
A member of Gaspar’s team released the figures from the ballots counted so far and said it had to take a miracle for Yarde to win the elections.
