While workers turned out in their numbers for the annual May Day Rally, some members and supporters of presidential candidate, Gregory Gaspar are keeping watch at the Union’s headquarters to ensure no mischief is afoot with the ballot boxes left in the building.
On the Rally long-serving president of the GPSU, Partick Yarde was a no show but members of his executives lead the GPSU contingent. Executive member, GPSU Vice-President, Mortimer Livan said Yarde was in New Amsterdam for the May Day Rally.
The man tipped to win the presidency, Gregory Gaspar said today is about those who struggled for betterment for the trade union movement.
Controversy erupted after the ballots were not counted following the completion of the elections on Thursday last.
Gaspar had some concerns regarding the process after the elections officer, Hermon DeSouza suspended the ballot counting until next Wednesday.
In Gaspar’s view, Yarde is calling all the shots but he (Yarde) has denied this claim that he has anything to do with the delay of the elections results. In fact, Yarde is confident that he would be reelected.
