Polls have closed for the election of new officer bears to manage the affairs of the Guyana Public Service Union. Elections Officer, Herman DeSouza said the process was smooth.
DeSouza said after a few setbacks at the start of the process the elections went according to plan. He said the results will not be known before midday tomorrow.
Over 3000 registered members of the Guyana Public Service Union were expected to cast their ballots.
The elections were delayed after executive member Gregory Gaspar filed an injunction postponing process until the executive of the union produced the treasurer’s report for the last twelve years along with the audited reports.
Gaspar is challenging incumbent Patrick Yarde for the Presidency of the union. Yarde held the post of president for the last thirty years and some members believe he should be given another chance.
