A Canal No. 2, West Bank Demerara man was today arrested with 25 lbs. of cocaine during an Intelligence Operation by the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit. The suspect was identified as Khaled Alberto Perez.
According to a statement from the drug enforcement agency on the 8th December 2023, CANU officers conducted an intelligence-led operation in Providence, East Bank Demerara, where they intercepted a route 31 mini-bus bearing registration number BLL 179.
According to CANU, a subsequent search of the mini-bus which only had one occupant at the time, led to the discovery of ten (10) brick-like parcels suspected to be cocaine.
Khaled Alberto Perez, 33 years old, was arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters along with the suspected narcotic. The narcotic tested positive for cocaine with a total weight of approximately 25 lbs. (11.5 kgs) with a street value of approximately GUY $12M.
The investigations are ongoing.
