The police have detained three men after acting on information and swooped down at a house in John Street Campbelville. In that operation, the police discovered an AK-47 rifle and a 9 mm pistol along with a number of rounds of ammunition.
The men detained are said to be two ex- policemen and a phantom gang member. The police have stated that all the men have had brushes with the law in recent times.
The apartment is owned by an overseas-based Guyanese and was rented to the men through a real estate agency.
Police sources told this newscast that ballistic tests will be done on the weapons, to ascertain if the guns were used in any criminal activities.
