Reports are that Roach was one of two physicians responsible for US immigrant visa medical examinations. Added to that, he also served as a clinical advisor for the US CDC in Guyana.
Further, the police report added that two males employed by the doctor said the clinic was open for business between the hours of 7:00 hrs. and 15:00 hrs. At the close of business, one of the males reported that he left the building while the other said he retired to his living quarters at the top flat, leaving the doctor in his office on the middle flat.
It is further alleged that about 20:00hrs a male was seen exiting the building, who returned about seven minutes later and re-entered the clinic. About 22:18hrs the vehicle belonging to the doctor drove out of Duke Street heading north. It was further observed that the lights in the doctor’s office were still on which prompted one of the males to call the doctor on his cellular phone but he got no answer.
The other male was alerted and using his office keys he went to turn off the said lights when he discovered the doctor lying motionless. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dr. Roach was a former Chairman of the National Sports Commission. The building is equipped with surveillance cameras all around and it is said that the cameras will be instrumental in helping the police with their investigation into the doctor’s death.
Meanwhile, the two staff members remain in custody as the police investigations continue into the matter. The body is presently lying at the Memorial Gardens Mortuary awaiting a Post Mortem Examination.
At the office this morning, persons unaware of Dr. Roach’s death turned up attempting to meet with him.
