Murder accused Kapildeo Gangadin escaped from the Lusignan Prison
Double murder accused Kapildeo Gangadin escaped from the Lusignan prison today. A source confirmed the man’s escape from the East Coast Demerara prison facility.
Gangadin was remanded to prison on October 20th for the murders of Stratsphey East Coast Demerara businessman Chris Persaud and fisherman Mukesh Mangar which occurred in January 2020. Mangar was found motionless at Coldingen on the East Coast of Demerara with multiple stab wounds while Chris Persaud, a 21 year old businessman, was stabbed to death during a robbery at his family’s business place “Deals on Electronics” at Stratsphey, East Coast Demerara by the suspect on October 15th.
The suspect took the man’s gold chain in the process. He was caught with the stolen item hours after the stabbing death of Persaud.
Gangadin was expected back on Court on January 17, 2022. The joint services have since commenced a search for the suspect and this newscast understands that a probe is also underway to ascertain how the suspect could have escaped the facility.
