Guyana Defence Force Sergeant Keyon King, Rural Constables Delroy Jackson and Peon Lee today pleaded not guilty to the GYD$58 Million gold and cash robbery carried out last Thursday at Wallison Enterprise. The men appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate Court this morning.
Four charges of robbery under arms were read to the three accused King, Jackson and Lee for which the men pleaded not guilty and were remanded to prison. The court was told that the men robbed Fernanda Carmichael of one (1) Phone worth $350,000, Francis Santos Lumes – 60 ounces of gold valued at $20 M and GYD$38 M. they also robbed Lumes- Gold chain – $140,000 – ring $60,000 – cash $14,000 and William Batista Da Silva – a cell phone valued at $60,000.
King up to the time of the robbery spent the past fifteen (15) years in the Guyana Defense Force. He is also a father of one.
The police over the weekend discovered GYD$18 million suspected to be part of the cash stolen. The money was found buried in buckets in the yard where King lived. The men used small handguns during the execution of the robbery.
