The police are probing a fatal accident which occurred last night Better Hope. on the East Coast of Demerara. That involved a motor car PZZ 9593 driven by Dharmendra Parmanand age 23 years of lot 205 Thomas Street Kitty Georgetown and a pedestrian.
According to the Police their enquiries disclosed that the motorcar PZZ 9593 was proceeding east on the northern driving lane at a fast rate of speed when it is alleged by the driver that the pedestrian walked from north to south into the path of his motorcar.
The center front portion of the car collided with the pedestrian and he fell onto the road surface where he received injuries about his body. Residents within the area said the man was lying on the road bleeding from the head and repeated calls to the police to get assistance when unanswered. However, the police are dismissing that claim. The man died on the spot.
The driver was taken into custody as the probe continues. Up to news time the man was still to be identified. The body of the deceased is presently lying at the Georgetown Public Hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem examination. A Breathalyzer test was conducted on driver of motorcar but no trace of alcohol was found on his breath.
