All is not well in Guyana, says group protesting on PPP first year in office

While the People’s Progressive Party was celebrating its first year in office, opposition members, political activists and supporters gathered in Buxton in protest of what they called the mismanagement of the affairs of the state for the past year. The group said all is not well in Guyana and they want to bring it to the attention to all both locally and internationally.

The protesters spoke of the treatment of nurses, refusal of government to discuss wages and salary increases for public servants, distribution of the  $25,000 COVID-19 cash grant as issues that need to be addressed.

President Ali has since announced that Public Servants will get a pay increase before the end of the year. however he has made no mention of his administration engaging the workers’ representative, the GPSU on the proposed increases.
