Former head of the Guyana Lands and Survey Commission Trevor Benn was invited to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Guyana Police Force today, where he was detained for questioning. This newscast understands that Benn was kept in custody on an allegation that he
obtained money by false pretense knowing that the, least he issued, does not belong to lands and survey commission and is rather owned by NICIL. This newscast understands that the monies for the least were paid to Lands and Survey commission and not to Benn as is being implied by the police.
Up to late this afternoon, Benn was still in in custody as the police investigations continue into the matter. He is represented by attorney at law Mark Waldron.
