Guyana yesterday issued a protest note to Venezuela after two fighter jets were seen flying over the community of Eteringbang in Region 7 on Tuesday.
The move has been condemned in political circles and Guyana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Hugh Todd summoned his Venezuelan counterpart Luis Edgardo Diaz Monclus and presented him with a formal protest on the latest aggression against Guyana by Venezuela.
At approximately 13:20 hrs. on Tuesday, two Venezuelan Sukhoi SU 30 fighter jets, flew over the community of Eteringbang and the airstrip at a very low altitude. The fighter jets then circled the location once before proceeding in an easterly direction. The Minister noted that the act of aggression was a clear violation of Guyana’s territorial space as well as International law and convention.
