A house gutted and another scorched in a late afternoon fire at Hadfield Street and Louisa Row today. The fire reportedly started at the Hall’s residence and quickly swept through the wooden building.
No one was at home at the time of the fire. It was after the Guyana Fire Service extinguished that blaze that some of the occupants of the home began arriving to see the place they called home completely gutted.
The occupants interviewed said they losses are in the millions. A neighbour said he and other residents after seeing the raging fire decided to assist other neighbours to remove their belongings in case engulf their homes.
The Guyana Fire Service quickly contained and extinguished the fire, while the Police were out in their numbers to ensure that traffic around the area flowed smoothly. An investigation is underway to ascertain the origin of the fire
